An excursion to Telouet, located in the Atlas Mountains. For centuries, the Glaoui family controlled the passage of caravans bringing goods from Sub-Saharan Africa to Marrakech.
At 07:30 AM, depart from Marrakech and travel through the High Atlas to Kasbah Telouet. The road to this Kasbah has been paved to make it more accessible. This Kasbah, located far from Marrakech's main road, served as a palace and headquarters for the powerful Glaoui tribe. The head of this family was the Pasha of Marrakech, with the last one, Thami Glaoui, fleeing Morocco after French independence in 1956 because he supported the French rather than King Mohammed V's return.
The Kasbah of At Ben Haddou, Morocco's most famous Kasbah, has appeared in numerous successful Hollywood films, including "Alexander the Great" and "Gladiator." It is one of Morocco's eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, having been designated in 1987.
Return to Marrakech after lunch via the Tizi N'Tichka pass, which stands at around 2,280 meters and offers stunning views of the High Atlas and the beautiful valley.
Return to Marrakech by approximately 7:00 p.m.
