This journey has been planned to give an exploration of the High Atlas and the Sahara, exposing you to as many distinct features as possible in a one week. It is made up of mountains and deserts, oasis and parched areas, dunes, infinite vistas, and deep canyons. You will drive through some of the most stunning kasbahs in Southern Morocco, giving you your first taste of this very unique region.
Departure to the south via the Tizi n'Tichka route, Morocco's and North Africa's highest mountain pass. You will leave the main route shortly after the pass to reach Telouet, which has for five centuries controlled the caravans transporting items from Sub-Saharan Africa to Marrakech. After touring the kasbah, you will return to the road and descend to the UNESCO-listed historic town of Ait Benhaddou. You may cross the river and wander through the alleys of the old town. Some inhabitants allow (optional) tours to their traditional dwellings. You will arrive at Ouarzazate in the late afternoon.
Visit the Taourirt Kasbah and the ancient Glaoui Kasbah after breakfast. Travel to Agdz over a magnificent environment of entirely dry mountains. Beyond Agdz, the road enters the Draa River valley, which is actually a very long oasis. Zagora is where you'll spend the night.
Continue by vehicle or minibus along the Draa River valley to Tansikht, then into the desert on the new southern route eastward. Your route takes you via Alnif, which is famous for its fossils. Specialists from all over the world come to study the specimens found here. Then it's on to Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty.

Visit the Todra Gorges and wander through the oasis gardens, which are especially lovely because Tineghir has the uncommon luxury of having water all year. Tineghir is where you'll spend the night.
Departure to Boumalne du Dadès, the starting point for the Dadès Gorges. This route has become one of the most beautiful in the country since the inauguration of the new road that climbs up to Msemrir (70 kilometers from Boumalne). Return to Boumalne and see the Skoura oasis, which is home to numerous stunning kasbahs. Evening at Ouarzazate.
Return by via the Tichka pass road. You'll arrive in Marrakech early enough to spend some time exploring the souks. The city's hotel.
