Begin this lovely journey by being picked up at 9:00 a.m. from your hotel or riad in a lovely car driven by a very professional and friendly driver. The Ourika Valley is a typical High Atlas valley, particularly lush because the Ourika River is one of the few year-round rivers in the region.
The Ourika Valley is located in the Atlas Mountains, south of Marrakech. A trip to the Ourika Valley is an excellent way to escape the heat and noise of Marrakech
The first thirty minutes will be spent traversing a rather dull, flat plain. Soon after, the breathtaking views of Berber villages and landscapes begin. One of the villages along the way has a fantastic Monday market.
The place to go is Setti Fatma. The hard work undertaken by the region's Berber populations, who have not shied away from transporting the materials required for building small houses on the mountainside or working on the terraces required for farming in the difficult hillside terrain, astounds.
You will also have the option of taking a walk to see the beautiful waterfalls in the village of Sti Fadma. You can enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the local restaurants serving delectable cuisine next to the stream, all while admiring the river views.
Around 4:30 p.m., return to Marrakech.
As the valley is close to Mount Toubkal, the highest point in North Africa at 4,160 meters, this excursion allows you to admire the most beautiful peaks of the range. It also features a number of traditional Berber villages.
